That's an awful photoshop job, I know. I was in a rush!
Another week, another delay for the Clipse album. This time it's not just the "crackers at Jive" that aren't playing fair, its a member of their own camp.
Some time before Foxxy Brown went deaf, Pharrell gave her a beat to work with. After she lost her hearing, lil' Skateboard P assumed that she wouldn't be using the beat. Taking a page out of The Alchemist's book, Pharrell turned around and gave the beat to the Clipse. The Clipse got on the beat and killed it with Slim Thug putting in a guest appearance, and the track was added to their upcoming album.
Having learned nothing from George Costanza, Pharrell's double dipping eventually caught up to him when Foxxy had surgery and regained her hearing. You see where this is heading, right? Yeah, Foxxy finally got around to using the Pharrell beat. Jay-Z then sent a cease and desist to Jive Records, putting the Clipse version of the song in limbo. Pharrell is allegedly in negotiations with Def Jam to get the rights back to the instrumental. Is Pharrell willing to sacrifice his relationship with the President of Def Jam for the sake of his Star Trak homies? We'll have to wait and see.
As is usually the case when someone is about to get screwed by a record label, the song inevitably leaked. I won't put it up on this site, because this thing is a C&D waiting to happen. Other sites are braver than I am, though. After hearing the track, its pretty dope. I haven't heard Foxxy's version, but unless Jay-Z is ghostwriting for her again I can't imagine it will measure up. Still, if this is going to hold up the Clipse album, let Foxxy Brown have the beat, P!
On top of that, there are rumors that the execs at Jive Records are not quite happy with the fan reaction to their latest single, Mr. Me Too. Despite the fact that this video has been blowing up on Myspace, Youtube and just about every hip hop blog you can think of, it predictably did not get much play with the TRL crowd. Its possible that the album will get delayed yet again while a second, MTV-friendly single is released and promoted.

^^Thanks, just finished listening to the neptunes segments. I think the neptunes were the only producers that actually had me interested in noreaga. That What What beat still sounds crazy.
The womp womp song is good but its not going to make or break the clipse cd. if its holding up the release just let foxxy brown have the damn thing and put it out later on We Got It For Cheap volume 3. I dont really like the clipse but even im getting frustrated with the constant pushbacks of the release date.

What's the name of the mixtape you have? The clipse put out 2 "We Got It For Cheap" mixtapes, plus a remix, over the past year or so. None of those tracks are supposed to be on Hell Hath No Fury.
If you've got some other mixtape from them, let me know where you got it, I'd definitely like to cop that!
